This trip is designed to show you the best of Southern Spain, as well as Barcelona. Travel as locals do, utilizing one of world best infrastructures, with short rides on high speed trains and deluxe buses between the cities. Stay in amazing downtown hotels and explore with professional local guides.
Day 1: Arrival in Barcelona
Welcome to Barcelona – the lively capital of Catalonia and one of the most beautiful cities in the world! Your driver meets you at the airport holding a sign with your name on it and transfers you to your centrally located hotel.
Day 2: Barcelona Old Town Sagrada Familia | Train to Madrid
Meet your private guide to go on a wonderful walking tour around the most outstanding attractions of Barcelona Old Town.
During the tour you walk through the maze of old narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter, go inside the Barcelona Cathedral, pass through the former Jewish District, St. Jaume Square and Square of the King, see the Generalitat Palace, the City Hall and the former Royal Palace (from the outside), and explore the Ribera Shore District where you see the Santa María del Mar Church.
The tour finishes on the most vivid street in Barcelona La Rambla, abundant in modern shops, arts and crafts stalls and numerous open air cafes and restaurants, where you can take some rest and enjoy the bustling life of Barcelona.
Enjoy a sightseeing tour dedicated to the world-famous Sagrada Familia Cathedral – the most brilliant masterpiece of Gaudi that is rightfully considered the most recognizable symbol of Barcelona.
After the tour you are brought to the train station for your trip to Madrid. Upon your arrival 2.5 hours later you will be met by your driver who transfers you to your centrally located hotel.
In the evening dinner is on your own.
Day 3: Madrid of the Bourbons
Walking tour to discover Madrid of the Bourbons – the historical area around the Prado Museum.
During the tour you pass Puerta de Alcala, Plaza Cibeles, and three monumental fountains: Cibeles, Apolo and Neptuno. Next you proceed to the Spanish Parliament building, see the Atocha train station and explore the area of the Golden Triangle of Art made up of three most important art museums of Madrid – the Prado, the Thyssen-Bornemitza and the Reina Sofia.
The highlight of the tour is a visit to one of the world’s greatest art galleries and Madrid’s top cultural sight – the Prado Museum. This venue houses a unique collection of fine art. You see the most significant gems of the museum’s collection, including the famous masterpieces of El Greco, Velazquez, Goya, Raphael and Rubens.Return to your hotel and have the rest of the day free.
Day 4: Cordoba Tour and Granada
Check out from your hotel in Madrid and board your high speed train to Cordoba. You then have 2 hours for exploring Cordoba City Center.
Private bus transfer to Granada. Rest of the day will be at leisure.
Day 5: Alhambra of Granada
After breakfast, you will enjoy a wonderful sightseeing tour of Granada, known as the last stronghold of the Moors in Western
Europe full of numerous historical sights and medieval architecture.
During the tour, see the main treasures of Granada including one of Spain’s most visited attractions – the Alhambra Fortress that used to be the residence of the Muslim rulers and their court. After the tour you return to your hotel and have the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 6: Granada to Seville & City Tour + Alcazar
Transfer to Seville and meet your guide for a tour of the city.
Your sightseeing program features top sights, including the symbol of the city – the Giralda Tower, the Seville Cathedral and the Real Alcazar of Seville – the oldest European royal residence composed of a group of buildings from different time periods (entrances included).
Your tour finishes at a scenic Plaza de Espana – a dazzling palace complex dating back to the epoch of Renaissance and considered to be among the most beautiful complexes of its kind in the world.
Return to your hotel and have the rest of the day free.
Day 7: Day Trip to Jerez
Explore the largest city in the Cadiz province, Jerez, located less about an hour from Seville on train. During your guided walking tour of Jerez you see its main sights, including the Church of San Miguel, the Old Town hall, San Dionisio Church, the Jerez de la Frontera Cathedral, and the beautiful Alcazar. As a tour highlight, you have a guided visit to the Gonzalez Byass Winery, where you get to taste 2 wines and tapas and then go to the Tabanco El Pasaje restaurant for lunch and a flamenco show. Lunch of 3 glasses of wine (or equivalent) and 4 typical tapas is included.
Day 8: Seville to Porto Flight & Explore Porto with Wine Tasting
Flight to Porto with stop in Lisbon.
During the tour you will see city monuments, including the Lello Bookshop, Luis I Bridge and the Cathedral and see the railway station of São Bento. Continue your tour with a drive along the river bank to the mouth of the river and then along the ocean till the Castle of Queijo. The day is crowned with a tasting of the world famous Port wine in a renowned Wine Cellar of Vila Nova de Gaia.
Rest of day at leisure.
Day 9: Lisbon with Stop in Coimbra
Transfer to Lisbon via bus. With your stop in Coimbra, it will take about 5 hours.
Coimbra, located in the heart of Portugal, was the medieval capital for more than 100 years and is the oldest university city in Portugal.
Day 10: Lisbon Tour & Belem Quarter
During the tour you visit both the old and new towns with its famous attractions, including Rossio Square, Restauradores Square, the charming neighborhood of Chiado abundant in old cafés, shops and theaters, and Lisbon’s Sé Cathedral. Then you proceed to Commerce Square. Finish the tour with a walk at the Belem Quarter.
After the tour you are brought to the airport for your flight home.
